Purpose of Position

Under immediate direct supervision, resolve claims by investigating losses and negotiating settlements whilst maintaining adequate production levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Examine claim forms, policies and endorsements, client instructions and other records to determine coverage
  • Investigate claims by interviewing claimants and witnesses, obtaining official reports, inspecting physical damage, and by comparing claim information with evidence
  • Set loss reserves
  • Prepare reports by collecting and summarising information as required by clients
  • Settle claims by determining insurance carrier’s liability, client’s instructions and authority levels, and negotiating with policyholders
  • Control claims costs
  • Recommend litigation when appropriate
  • Present evidence at legal proceedings, producing reports and other documents as evidence, as required
  • Maintain expected case load whilst maintaining Service Level Agreement expectations
  • Maintain company reputation and integrity of insurance products by complying with federal and state regulations and service standard
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education

  • Minimum two years insurance claims handling experience preferred

  • Commencement of or working towards completion of Loss Adjusting studies or Insurance qualifications
